Bombshell Stamps Blog Hop: Let's hear it for the girls

"Who's ready to find out the latest theme for the Bombshell Stamps Hump day Hop? Last month, it was all about the boys...well this month, in anticipation of October, the theme is "Let's Hear it for the Girls!" This theme is a little more specific then last month's though. I want you to create a card or project that could be sent to someone during October, which is (here in the States), Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So let's all Think Pink!

You can go with a pink card, Girl Power, use the infamous pink ribbon symbol, etc. But we want to worship those ladies that are fighting (or have fought) for their lives."

Okay, So!! I want to be the rebel of the group. YES! this hop was in anticipation of October's Breast Cancer Awareness month. But did YOU!!! know? That September features a day for OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS? Just one day?! And Breast Cancer gets ONE WHOLE MONTH!!! So the inner rebel in me says... I am going to make sure you hear it for the girls with OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS!!!

I used the flower icon from the Bombshell Angel set, and the Letters from Tattoo Font set to create this card for a very VERY special woman in my life. My Aunt Marie. She is on her second time battling Ovarian Cancer and shes kicking its tail!!! She is a true Bombshell, I am so thankful to have her in mine and Diem's lives. I mean she IS where Diem gets her middle name from!! :)

Here are some facts about Ovarian Cancer that EVERY woman needs to know. Please check it out before hopping to the next blog of, ::

In January 1, 2008 in the United States approximately 177,578 women were alive who had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer (including those who had been cured of the disease).

Ovarian cancer accounts for approximately three percent of cancers in women. While the ninth most common cancer among women, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women, and is the deadliest of gynecologic cancers. Mortality rates are slightly higher for Caucasian women than for African-American women.

A Woman’s Lifetime Risk:
A woman’s lifetime risk of developing invasive ovarian cancer is 1 in 71.
A woman’s lifetime risk of dying from invasive ovarian cancer is 1 in 95.

Please click on the stats chart to read more information. Ovarian Cancer is a silent killer, and can be prevented!!!!

Now, not to be a Debby Downer, I just felt that Ovarian Cancer needed its time to shine as its awareness date IS September!!! BE A SUPPORTER WEAR TEAL! AND WEAR IT OFTEN! I DO! I wear a teal bracelet everyday in honor of Marie!!!

Now Onto the rest of the hop. From my blog you should be headed to  the Lovely Lizzie's blog! But if you get lost... here is the whole listing!!!

OH! PS. Leave comments on all the blogs, and you will be entered to win a PRIZE for Commenting!!!

"Dear Emily,
Thank you for your generous support of our nation's deployed heroes!
Your gift of 362 cards and AnyHero letters was received on 8/29/2012.
Your gift of cards and letters assures that we can continue helping service members keep in touch with home, as well as encourage them with the thanks of a grateful nation. Our OWH family has sent over 1.7 million cards that convey our support—you're making a huge difference for our heroes!
Thank you!

Looks like I need to kick my tail into gear and make more cards for Operation Write Home. If you are a card maker, and need a good cause to help!!! Check them out!

To be a positive friend, be a positive motivator

Hello Blogging Friends!!!
Inspiration post yesterday, and now an inspiration post today.

My BFFFFFFF Lena, over at ScrapButterfly is in need of some THINspiration. She has a goal of losing 100 pounds. :)

September 7th 2012-- Visiting Lena at work :)

I am sure Lena wont mind since we have some of the same followers. She was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Yeah, when she told me, I about fell off my ladder at work dropping boxes of mini to go products.

A while back, wow. Like 2 years ago!!! I started doing this THINspiration. It really was just me blogging about me walking in Arizona (where I was living at the time). I wore a pedometer, brought my camera, and wore my iPod and walked everyday. I would then, in return blog about how far I walked (Distance) and how many steps I took. I did not have a name for it, until Lena came up with THINspiration... and we chose to post on THURSDAYS our totals. Lena took it to another extreme. She added her weight. I on the other hand posted photos. I am not near as ballsy as Lena, but kudos to her for posting her weight.

After talking to Lena, I figured I would get back to posting my walking and junk. I mean just being more active would be great!!! I started on Friday (9-14-12.) Here is the total(s) for Friday-Sunday.

Friday: miles 5.37 steps  11418
Saturday: miles 2.31 steps  4896
Sunday: miles 1.73 steps  3639

Current total:
Miles:   9.41
Steps:   36267
Hours at work: 13

By the end of the month of September I would like to have put in a minimum of 25 miles in. Good enough goal right?

So this is a good start. I need to wear my pedometer at all times to get a true reading, and then add in my 60-90 minutes of extra work (exercise for fun).

Go stop by Lena's original blog post, and leave her some inspiration! She needs positive motivators in this battle she is facing.

Christmas Cards

Christmas cards, are full in effect here at the Wilson house.
Operation Write Home is a staple in this house, common phrase said is OWH. We are big time supporters here at this house! :) From AnyHero Mail, Kids Mail, allllll the way to the cards. Currently, I have been working on my goal of 500 Christmas cards for OWH. These are just a few of the Christmas cards I have been making using Clipart. Clip art is a great tool for making cards.

All paper comes from The Paper Studio... which I am currently a fan of! (For those of you who do not know what that it is... its a brand from Hobby Lobby!)

Santa is a great figure for Christmas cards, I figure I should get my Santa fix out of the way with these OWH cards... I wonder what I will come up with for my own Christmas cards? Suggestions?

Want to contribute to Operation Write Home? Yes? Click on the Operation Write Home Link and join in the fun. Christmas cards that are not tucked, stamped, or lined are due October 10th. The ones that have all the grunt work done, are due October 31st!!!  So get to stamping!!! Once I get the OWH Christmas cards done, I need to get my own done, then onto my Valentines Day/ Love Cards done for OWH, which are due DECEMBER 31ST!!! :)

Its Your Lucky day!!

I made this card for my friend Anthony, who all of us in the IWC world call Slaw. He was there for me the other day with some kind words of wisdom about a mutual friend. So I figured I would send him some love mail. Some random acts of kindness. :)

I used my go to stamp set... Mermaid Treasure from Bombshell Stamps. I love her so much! I also included the sea life from Fishy Philosophy from {ippity} a side project from Unity. Pretty neat right?

The sentiment says, Its your lucky day, check out the booty.

No Place Like Home Card Drive OWH

Operation Write Home is having a Card Drive!!!

Let’s help our heroes keep in touch throughout the coming holiday season! That means not only Thanksgiving and Christmas cards – but all the other themes too. They’ll most certainly love writing holiday cards, but they also will want to write home to their families in addition to the traditional Christmas messages!
We have 4 prize boxes full of crafty goodies for 4 lucky winners! Names will be drawn on October 11 and announced on OWHtv that evening. To qualify, your package must:

contain half general card themes and half holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving). Your general cards may certainly be fall- or winter-themed since you have all those seasonal supplies out – or you can take a break from those and make regular general cards.

contain at least 2 AnyHero cards or letters. You can even get your kids to do those for you!

follow OWH guidelines! Don’t forget to line them, triage for things falling off, include a completed packing slip (and write “No place like home” on the challenge line.) If you need to order a stamp for the backs of your cards, do that here.

BONUS ENTRY: Cards properly tucked get a double entry! If you’d like to order envelopes, the coupon code for Heinrich is here. And if you need to know how to tuck, see the video on this page.

{ippity} OWH Cards

Yes, you are seeing correctly! This is a lot of girly cards in one post!!

These are some of the first cards I made when I ventured out here to Arkansas. I did not have any of my own supplies... Well.. Using someone Else's supplies until you get your own makes you appreciate your own "stuff".

Stamp is Ippity, stamped in Versafine.
Colored with either Crayola colored pencils or crappy SU markers. Yeah, crappy as my mom bought them on Ebay and she thought they would be gentley used... Yeah right. Most of them look like the tips were used to brush some one's teeth!! Makes me appreciate my markers!!!

Sew in Love with You

Hey friends!
I have a bunch of these die cuts that I got out of a Michael's bargain bin a while ago thinking how nice they would be to use them on Operation Write Home cards! Little did I know... HALF OF THEM HAD GLITTER ON THEM!!!! If you are new to OWH, you should know that Rule #1 is NO GLITTER!!!!!! (This could explain why I hate glitter so much now a days!) But some stuff with glitter can be sealed with glossy accents if you really like the glitter appeal.

All paper comes from Recollections All Seasons paper packs. I figured this would make a great LOVE card for my stash of OWH cards. :)
